Speaking
A rebellious dreamer with a practical message
It doesn’t have to be this way.
Anytime I find myself frustrated–when there is wailing and gnashing of teeth and rending of garments–I remind myself that it doesn’t have to be this way.
That applies to anything in life : relationships, jobs, cities, friends, hobbies, clothes.
There’s an alternate path away from anything that fills me with impotent rage, and for more than fifteen years, I’ve endeavored to find it for myself.
“Leaving what you hate” is one of my favorite themes. My hope is that by speaking openly about my own doubt, sense of destiny, leaps of faith and efforts to pay the bills, I also help others find the courage to believe it doesn’t have to be this way.
My message is rebellious but hopeful: There’s another path, a side door, a different way of living. And, oh yeah, here are some practical ways to find it.
I talk about...
- Are you living your destiny?
- The Zone of Willingness: Making peace with Fear and Doubt
- This is so much worse than I expected: When your dreams don’t feel so dreamy
- The Mist of Unease: The hazy fog of going the wrong direction in life
- The Big Why is a Giant Con
- “Not This” - Why what you hate is the stick pushing you toward your destiny

I want challenges that make me look back and say, “I did that.”
